Obituary for Donald G. Ennis

Donald George Ennis, age 91, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his home. He was born on November 18, 1926, in South Dakota, the son of Peter and Pauline (Gardner) Ennis. On May 23, 1953, Don was united in marriage to Wilma E. Gudenschwager. This marriage was blessed with three children. Don was employed as a tool and die maker in various locations for many years. Don’s faith was very important to him. He and Wilma were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Reedsburg, and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3805. Don was a driven member of the Republican Party for which he wrote many articles and Letters to the Editor in several area newspapers. He sang karaoke in area establishments as well as nursing homes and especially enjoyed singing with Jerry and Donna Greely of the ‘Blue Ramblers’. Don was a people person and loved visiting with others. He was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed traveling with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Beverly, Irene and Esther; brother, Tom; and grandson, Eric Nachtigal.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma, of Reedsburg;
Son, Donald Kevin (Debra) Ennis of Necedah and son, Brandon;
Daughter, Kathleen (David) Gonzalez of Loganville, and their eight children: Nicole (Leonard) Abbs, and their son Victor; Portia Gonzales; Carolina (Michael) Lipscomb; David Gonzalez; Michael (Janessa) Gonzalez and their son, Lincoln; Jacob Gonzalez, Marie Gonzalez, and Joshua Gonzalez;
Daughter, Linda (Chuck) Denman of Cazenovia, and their children: Amber Selje and Lani, Lakyn and Ryker; Jessica (John Paul) Thompson and their children: Reegan, Trenna, Kersey, Breckyn and Oaklin; Karla Kowalke and her children: Samantha, Noah and Emma;
Brothers, Joe Ennis and John (Charlene) Ennis;
Sisters, Susan Thompson and Edith Martin;
Don was also survived by several nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald G. Ennis will be conducted at 11:30 AM on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David Carrano officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held on Friday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Theresa Cemetery, Union Center, at a later date.
