Obituary for Jon C. Peterson

Jon C. Peterson, age 76, of Reedsburg, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at SSM Hospice House in Baraboo. He was born on October 31, 1941, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of Herbert and Adeline (Sussner) Peterson. On June 19, 1971, Jon was united in marriage to Sharon Greenwood at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg. Jon was a true farmer, helping his dad after his dad suffered a heart attack. He purchased the farm, what is now known as the Ranch, in 1958. Jon and Sharon milked cows until Jon’s back surgery forced him to make a change to raising beef in 1980. He then raised and sold beef cattle and fattened as many as 250 steer a year along with the other work that went with running a farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna (Ed) Kleinow; brother, Harley Peterson; and brother-in-law, Kenny Herritz.
Jon is survived by his wife, Sharon;
Sisters, Shirley (Vern) Stando, and Mary Jane Herritz all of Reedsburg;
Sister-in-law, Millie Peterson of Reedsburg; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A visitation to celebrate Jon’s life will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg. Private family burial at a later date.
