Obituary for Alicia Rae Johnston

Alicia Rae Johnston, age 26, of Reedsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 6, 2018, following a 10 year battle with cancer. Her courage and selflessness were an inspiration to her family and friends. She was born on July 29, 1991, in Baraboo, WI, the daughter of Gary Johnston and Kristine Backeberg. Alicia graduated from Reedsburg Area High School in 2009. Following high school she received her CNA license and worked for Brightstar. She attended Western WI Technical College in LaCrosse working on her Medical Administration Degree. Alicia had a passion for art, especially ceramics. From a young girl on, Alicia enjoyed helping others. She always put others’ needs before her own and continued to display loyalty and selflessness through all her health battles up until she received her wings on April 6.
Alicia was preceded in death by her grandmother, Verna Stout; paternal grandparents, William and Harriet Johnston; and great aunt, Lois Treptow Walsh.
She is survived by her mother, Kristine Backeberg of Reedsburg;
Father, Gary (Karen) Johnston of Hillpoint;
Maternal grandmother, Linda (Mike) Siebert of Reedsburg;
Step-sisters: Stephanie Willis of Cazenovia, Janelle Willis of Madison, and Sarah Willis of Madison;
Step-brothers, Danny (Michelle) Degner of EauClaire, and Jeff (Angie) Degner of Bradford, TN;
Thank you to the Agrace Hospice staff for the wonderful care given to Alicia.

(Stefanie) Tennyson, Jaiden Tennyson, Shilo (Jaime) Tennyson and Shawn and Leo Tennyson all of CO;
Paternal Aunts and uncles: Dean Johnston of Hillpoint, Dale (Heather) Johnston of Ironton, and Don Johnston of Cazenovia; her fur baby, Olive Marie; along with other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Alicia Johnston will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
