Obituary for Terry Lee Jones

Terry Lee Jones
Terry Lee Jones, 78, of LaValle, Wis., died after a sudden illness Sunday, June 25th, at University Hospital, Madison, Wis.
Terry was born April 5, 1939 in Stitzer, Wis., to Leonell and Deleah Jones. He grew up in Stitzer, attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Fennimore High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (both a bachelor's and master's degree) and taught eighth grade science at Reedsburg Middle School for 35 years, and was an assistant coach with the high school wrestling program.
Terry followed his curious mind literally around the world, always seeking the scenic route and never missing a stop at an historical marker along the way. He particularly loved traveling west and made many friends in the Black Hills of South Dakota, including 20 years of pilgrimages to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Terry's passions included motorcycles, the outdoors and waterskiing. Terry had a deep affection for Native American culture. He pursued antiques, engulfed everything Lone Ranger, supported the Circus World Museum as a member of the Center Ring Society and had a daily appointment with “Gunsmoke” reruns.
Terry was a rousing fan club for his four children's sports teams and other extracurricular pursuits, in Reedsburg, Lancaster and Platteville. He continued following Reedsburg High School athletics even through this spring. Of course, Terry loved the Packers, Badgers and Brewers.
Terry never turned down a conversation or a card game. His laugh lifted hearts and always was at the ready. Terry was a living, breathing hug. He embodied inclusiveness, humanity, humility and, most of all, love. He will be remembered warmly by his family, and by so many others in Reedsburg, his home for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dee; his children, Becky (Marc) Morehouse of Fairfax, Iowa, Valerie (Tom) Norgord of Wausau, Mollie (Roman) Stolbov of DeForest and Cody (Hanna Toellner, fiancé) of Stoughton and his grandchildren Devin, Will, Emily and Aubrey. And there's Peanut, the family's faithful cat of 17 years. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis Jones.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Farber Funeral Home on 2000 Viking Drive in Reedsburg. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Reedsburg United Methodist Church, 833 Third St. in Reedsburg. There will be a 10:00 a.m. visitation preceding the service at the church and a luncheon following in the Fellowship Hall.

The family would like to thank the UW Health's Neurosciences ICU nursing staff, the emergency medical staff at Reedsburg Area Medical Center and Reedsburg Area Medical Service. Your compassion and empathy soothed Terry's family in a time of great need.
